VLBI global solution 2006a_astro

Astrometric global solution 2006a_astro used all available VLBI observations at 8.6GHz and 2.2 GHz from 1979.08.03 through 2006.06.22, 4201 twenty four hour sessions, including 25 observing sessions of the VLBA Calibrator Survey, in total 5.4 million measurements of group delays.

Positions of 3563 sources were adjusted in a single least square solution. Currently, this is the most complete catalogue of positions of compact radio sources. Technical description of the solution is available here.

Astrometric Results

  1. 2006a_astro catalogue in HTML form (7.5 Mb). NB: loading the catalogue takes time, please be patient. The catalogue contains source positions, their uncertainties, estimates of the total VLBA flux density, the VLBA flux density of unresolved components, naturally weighted CLEAN images in postscript and in fits format at X and S-band; plots of the correlated flux density as a function of the length of the baseline projection to the source plane; fits files with calibrated uv data. So far images and estimates of correlated flux densities are available only for 1856 sources.
  2. 2006a_astro catalogue in ASCII format. The catalogue contains source positions, their uncertainties, total VLBA flux density, the VLBA flux density of unresolved components.
  3. 2006a_astro catalogue in key-format format. The catalogue contains source positions. This catalogue can be used as a priori file for VLBI SCHED scheduling software package.
  4. 2006a_astro catalogue in blokq format. The catalogue contains source positions and their uncertainties. This catalogue can be used as a priori file for Mark5 VLBI analysis software package Calc/Solve.
  5. Images and calibrated uv data for 1856 sources at S-band, 1792 sources at X-band, 255 sources at K-band, and 132 sources at Q-band in one tar.bz2 file (4.7Gb). For some of the sources images for more than one epoch are available. Refer to readme file for the file name convention in this archive. NB: the size of this file is greater than 2Gb. Your browser probably will not be able to download it. It is suggested to use wget-1.10 or newer for downloading this file.
  6. Gif files of maps and radplots in one tar.bz2 file for 1603 sources at S-band and 1629 sources at X-band observed in 10 out of 11 VCS1 observing sessions. Among these sources, approximately 300 objects were observed in another experiments and their images in fits-format are available. These gif-files are the only piece of information about images for 1206 sources at S-band and 1212 sources at X-band currently available.
  7. Interactive calibrators search tool among sources in the 2006a_astro catalogue.

Geophysics Results

Station positions and velocities

Positions of 151 stations and their velocities were estimated as global parameters. Station positions are given on epoch 1997.01.01. Boundary conditions were selected in such a way that source positions, station positions and velocities are compatible with USNO series of the Earth orientation parameters finals.all and finals.daily.

Pole coordinates X, Y, UT1 angle, and their rate, daily correction to the nutation in longitude and nutation in obliquity were estimated for each session separately.
